A very special birthday!

Today is my little nephew's first birthday...it seems so weird, last year this time he wasn't even born yet!!Of course for an event like this a card and a good birthday present were self explanatory. And since I wouldn't be able to attend my mom and dad had the honours of giving it to him(and telling me that he loves it,but of course,I wouldn't really know either way, would I??)

This is what I got him.My sister ain't exactly planning to teach him greek.I disagree, lol!!So he's gonna learn it one way or the other, and learning through playing seems like a good plan ;)

For the card I decided to go with a big one...never did it occur to me that when opened it would look like a giant M but oh well,I still think it looks rather cute. The paper is from the same Winnie the Pooh collection I bought to make his mini album with and the stamp I found online here as a freebie.Ain't it the cutest??The letters spelling "gefeliciteerd"(which means congratulations in dutch) I cut out from a 12x12 piece of paper...then because I didn't feel they "popped" enough on the background paper,I glued them on light teal cardstock and re-cut them...yes my hands were very sore afterwards ;)

The inside I kept simple,a light blue smaller one and a few stickers from different collections...

I hope you like it!!

Always dream in vivid color!

This is a layout I've made for the March first challenge on Get Creative.Like I've said before I first planned to make another layout for this challenge, but that didn't work. But I really liked the challenge(a true challenge I've got to admit) and I decided to try and play with it.This is another picture of my baby nephew (I'm changing themes after this,I promise, lol) I've had and love.I liked it was all black and white and I decided to play with that!

For this challenge we had to use 1 pattern paper(base paper Bobunny,I think it's from their Back to backs collection, but I might be wrong),1 cardstock(I used black cardstock for my picture matting and also the same around the letters in the title),1 strip of ribbon or lace(I used a white ribbon with black stitching),1 button or brad(I used a small red button I had lying around),1 die cut(that's the black/white/grey frame you see around the picture.I bought it in a collection pack with a whole of other die cut shapes/frames etc at a local craft store. It's from a brand called Artemio and it's handmade in India from 100% recycled paper and it's gorgeous!),1 title(I used MME Wild Asparagus Alpha stickers and the small white letters I printed and cut into 1x1cm small squares, yes I'm cross-eyed right now!) and of course 1 picture.

I actually like the way it turned out. It's the first time I'm using different fonts/letters to write a title and I actually like the results!I hope you like it as well!!

Dino-mite

This is the first layout I've made with a picture of little Sander(and my sister told me it's ok to show you all withouth blanking his face out, yay!!).I loved this picture,he's so cute and happy in it and the colours are beautiful!!

To make this layout I used a sketch from Scrapbooks etc..When I first started it I was planning to make the sketch work with the challenge of Get Creative, but after a while it became obvious I couldn't make it work without using two strips of tape so I decided to make it as I thought was best and just make another layout for the challenge(which I still haven't made, and have no idea if I'll ever get to it).

The sketch I used was #121 which you can find here. The base paper is from Core'dinations,as is the white-beige tag(which actually is a hard cardboard tag I glued some core'dinations paper on),the brown paper is Bobunny, the striped tape is from a local toy store which carries some craft supplies and the letters I've made myself a while back.

I hope you like it!

Two cards today

Hey everyone!

Today I'm showing you two cards I made a few days back. The first one is a card for a couple that's expecting their second child,a baby girl any moment now.The father doesn't like pink at all,so I decided not to use those colours.I wanted to use bright, happy colours and two of my favorite colours are green and orange.I also had this really cute sticker I wanted to use.It came together but I'm not entirely happy with it,and I might make a new one if inspiration strikes before it's time to send it...

The second card I've made for my best friend. She had her birthday a couple of days back and even though I was sick I wanted to make her a card.I love making cards that I haven't made before, different, crazy and interesting shapes and like always I could find something interesting at Dawn's youtube channel. The card was very simple to make, but looks really cute.I decided to go a different route than Dawn did,so instead of sticking the pinwheel part on the card I added a brad in the middle,so the pinwheel actually turns.Because I didn't have a stamp or sticker or rub on that said happy birthday I found this cute little printable stamp and printed it on matching paper and then cut around it.I think it turned out pretty cute, and my friend said she liked it,so mission accomplished!!

I hope you like them too!!

Hello little one

This is a mini album I made for my new baby nephew.Last summer when my sis and her boyfriend visited us,she saw some of the stuff I've made over the past couple of years and she totally loved a mini star album I have made with Mori as the center of attention. She told me,half serious, half joking she wants me to make her one for the baby.So of course I kinda had to(you can't get away with making an album for your cat but not your nephew now,can you?) not that I didn't want to,but since I'm kind of a perfectionist I beat myself up a lot when making things and I tend to stress so much about them, especially if they are meant to be presents given to others.

As always I'm not entirely happy with it.I think it looks pretty much like an amateur's job(which of course I am)...but I figured as long as my sis stays away from other crafters blogs I'll be fine.

So here it is,hope you like it(and sorry for the many, many pictures).

P.S I forgot to mention the mini album is from Sfragidomania.I have to thank them once again for doing such an excellent job for me!Also for those who are interested(I'm sorry I'm just adding this, this was actually my third attempt making this post, shady internet around here these past couple of days) the papers are in their majority from a Disney Winnie the Pooh paper pack I found on ebay at a bargain price(I think with p&p charges it ended up costing me a bit over 10 euros). It was full with happy, colourful papers,a sheet of stickers and a sheet of cardstock embelishments. It's lovely and I highly recommend it for children's projects!

I'm an aunt!!

Yeah I know I should probably do a Merry Christmas post or something like that, but in this house,Jesus' birthday is secondary to my little nephew's:Sander! My sister finally gave birth on the 22nd of December to a healthy, huge (54cm and 4100gr) baby boy!I wish I could share a picture, cause he's really adorable, but I don't think my sister and brother in law would be very happy about that(they're kind of private) so you're just gonna have to take my word for it when I say:he's gorgeous!

As you all know I have been away for a few days to go to Thessaloniki for exams. So in case she gave birth while I was away I had to be prepared,so I made two cards before I went.Problem was,we had no idea what it was(I mean we knew it was a baby, but not if it was a boy or a girl). My sis thought it would be funny if they knew but none of the others did,so even though they knew pretty early on,they left us guessing till the very last day!So my cards had to be gender neutral! It was really tough to do that,so I came up with something "funny" to punish them both!

This is the card I made for my sis:

And this is the card I made for my brother in law.I have to say that he hates Winnie the Pooh,he told us he thinks he's gay because he constantly hugs Piglet and says "Oh bother"(of course he said that right after I had just bought a Winnie the Pooh paper pack to make their present baby mini album with).

In the comments I tell him how he should get used to it,since my sis will probably say that a lot with two men in the house(I had a baby girl version too, lol).

And this is the card I made today for my parents to send.As you can see, knowing the gender makes colour selection a lot easier! Also my sis loves giraffes, the whole room is decorated in them so it was easy to choose a theme. The little giraffe is a printable stamp I found online(sorry don't remember where) and the giraffe print cardstock I printed myself. The Welcome baby sentiment I bought a while back(as part of the mini album kit I still have to make) from Sfragidomania,I have to thank them once again, they did an excellent job!The ribbon I bought from a local craft store.

I hope you like them!!

I've been bad...

I know,I know...I have neglected my blog for all this time and I don't even have a good excuse for it.I wasn't busy,I wasn't away,I was home and completely unispired...Inspiration still hasn't really come knocking, and these days it seems I only scrap when I've got a reason.
Fortunatelly life never is short of excuses and reasons to scrap, and this was no exception. My dear, dear friend Mary had her beatiful baby boy last Monday and of course, that's reason enough not only to celebrate but to scrap as well!
It started on Monday itself when my friend Eudokia and I made this diaper cake as a present for Mary.We were a little nervous, because neither of us had ever done something like this before, but it turned out to be pretty easy and lots of fun!We caught the diaper cake fever and now we only need a new pregnant friend ;) I think the result came out rather cute, and Mary said she liked it so mission accomplished ;)

Of course a card with my wishes for the baby couldn't be missed!!!I had decided to make another type of card(using the Kirigami technique) but after I made it I wasn't impressed. The card was beatiful(the insert that is) but I had made it on thin paper(because I thought that would be better,in order to do the folding etc) and the weight was too much.I tried correcting it,but there was no saving it,so here I was,a few hours before we would go see Mary and card-less...So off to Youtube for inspiration.Luckily the 'tube is full of wonderfull scrappers, who are kind and gracious enough not only to share their work with us,but give us tutorials as well. One of those wonderfull scrappers I always seem to be going back to is Dawn. She is such an inspiration, and she's shown me some incredible things I can do with cardstock and patterned paper!
Anyway I decided to go for the Shutter card.It looks really complicated but is really easy to make.Of course I made it my own, using baby oriented patterned paper and cute stickers!I hope you like it,but most of all I hope Mary liked it!

Mary I wish you and your wonderful family all the best.I hope you'll enjoy so many sweet, happy, warm, loving memories with your two little boys and you'll let us witness it all through your beautiful scrap-work!!!
